How do we think positive? Positive thinking is something I did not learn from home. I had to teach myself this. This has happened through trial and error. There is a ‘challenge’ in every ‘difficulty’.
We are all insecure at certain times in our lives. It’s important not to surrender to your fears, and learn new ways to deal with change.
Why should we learn to think positive?
Life can be tough. By learning to think positive, you give yourself the energy and strength to get through a difficult time. You are more likely to make good choices and take action towards your goal.
Do you have someone close to you who is constantly complaining? You probably also know how it feels after a conversation with that person. You are tired, your energy is gone and you may experience a bit of a ‘down’ feeling.
Do you know someone happy and positive? When you talk to them, you feel very different afterward. You are enthusiastic, you see it all over again, you feel energetic and feel happy.
For me, learning positive thinking has been an important step in my life, and I hope you see it so.
By being thankful for the beautiful things in your life, instead of complaining about the bad things in your life, you will find that your mood is better, and the law of attraction starts to work. More good things will come.
Of course, it seems easy for me to say “look on the bright side of life” but practice makes perfect.
How do you become more positive? And how can you think positively?
Below are practical positive thinking tips that will help you become more positive step by step.
1. Appreciate what you have
This is a very simple thing but can really bring more positivity to your life. I have found that gratitude is a great way to convert fear, sadness, frustration, etc. into more positivity.
Before you go to sleep, list at least five things you were grateful for that day and do this in the morning when you wake up. It’s a really powerful method for more positivity.
2. Focus on what you want, not what you don’t want
An issue that often occurs is focusing on what you don’t want instead of what you do want. If you focus on what you don’t want, it will be difficult to get what you want in your life.
For example, do you want a healthy financial situation? Then focus on getting a good financial basis, then look at the lack of money and your debts.
From now on, focus more and more on things that are going well. Make a regular list of things you are grateful for in your life. Realize that positive things are usually not labeled as ‘newsworthy’, but that they do happen. Every second again.
3. Read books or articles about motivation and personal development
A positive attitude is a habit and the same is true for a negative attitude. To help you have a positive outlook on life, you need to be constantly reminded of this.
You can be reminded of this by regularly reading books about it. Read good books about the areas in your life that you want to change. Read the stories of people who have already achieved it.
4. Read more positive news
I’ve stopped reading the newspaper for ages. The news just depresses me. I sometimes read the newspaper, but then I look for positive news only. I feel the magical things happen.
5. Spread positivity
Write cards, tweets, messages on Facebook to your friends or family with positive wishes and thoughts. Spreading positivity generally helps you feel positive.
6. Trust yourself
By learning to be positive and taking action, it is important to have confidence.
Trust that you will meet the right people, that opportunities will come and that you will learn to look positive in life.

7. Wake up positively
Start the day right! Start with something that you enjoy, or that will give you a smile.
8. Stop comparing yourself to others
Don’t compare yourself to others or worry what others think of you. You cannot change how others feel about you. Then don’t try it. Live your life and be happy.
9. Live your life now
Don’t let your thoughts go to the past or the future if you don’t have to. This often starts with negative thoughts.
10. Eat nutritious food
How your body feeds has a direct effect on how you think. Treat your body well and give the nutrition properly. Avoid sugar as much as possible. You will be amazed in your body as well as your mind.
11. Thoughts become things
I learned this from the book, “The Secret ” by Rhonda Byrne, which is based on the Law of Attraction.
Rhonda says that what you broadcast also attracts. It means that when you think negative thoughts, you attract more negative things into your life. The same goes for positive things in life. You bring more happiness to your life by focusing on the positive.
12. Be enthusiastic and act enthusiastically
Dale Carnegie said: “Enthusiasm is the little secret of success”. Be enthusiastic and act enthusiastically as this will give you positive energy. It gives you positive energy in your daily tasks. What you radiate also comes back to you.
13. Realize that a positive attitude is important
Put a positive attitude to life high on your priority list. As soon as you find yourself losing your positivity, do your best to find it quickly.
You find positivity in trust, love, progress, connection, and hope. Sometimes it is not easy to stay positive.
14. Laugh
It is the best medicine for a positive and optimistic view of the world.
If you can determine how you experience life, you can also determine how seriously you take everything. Do you want to become more positive? Then don’t take life too seriously and laugh more.
Laughing is healthy. It boosts your immune system, it relaxes your body, it provides happy hormones, it is a good workout for your body, laughter reduces anxiety, reduces stress, and helps us develop better relationships.
15. Smile at everyone
Okay, put a smile on your face. I know, there is no concrete reason to laugh, but do it anyway.
Normally you laugh when you experience something nice. However, you can also just start laughing. Your brain then gets the idea that there is something nice going on, which improves your mood.
Your smile is a magical tool to make your life and the people around you more beautiful. So smile at people around you, smile at strangers in the street. Spread your positive vibe!
16. Affirmation
Positive affirmations can help you build more confidence and learn to be positive. However, it is best to connect affirmations with an action to achieve a positive habit.
A positive affirmation can be:
- Anything is possible
- The only thing I can control is my attitude towards life
- I always have a choice
- Every journey starts with a first step
17. Reserve time for yourself
Make time for yourself. Sometimes it’s easier to be depressed and cranky when you give all of your energy to other people. Make yourself a priority for once. Put yourself on no.1. It’s a cliché, but that way you can be there for others a lot more.
18. Be realistic and expect ups and downs
Being an optimist doesn’t mean you can’t have bad days. You will have this, that’s just reality.
If we are realistic and see that there are movements in life, and that thing is part of it, then we can experience things as they are.
Expect and hope the best of all, this makes you an optimist. Take control and learn to banish negativity from your life. Make it a priority to work on your positivity. The world around you will change if you shine your light on the people, opportunities, and possibilities around you.

A pessimist sees the problem in every opportunity. An optimist sees the opportunity in every problem.
– Winston Churchill.
19. You always have a choice
Whether something ‘good’ or ‘bad’ happens in your life. You always have a choice of how you react to it.
The situation is not changing. It does make a difference in how you view the situation.
It may be hard to believe, but for example, present a situation to your family, friend, or colleague and look at how the person views the situation.
You will see that there are several possibilities. Do you look at the positive side of the situation or the negative one? Always try to find the positive.
